Public figures get a lot of mail, some of it really nice
Posted by John Reed on
Here’s another rewarding note from a reader. Most people who do a job at whatever get compliments once or twice a year. When you deal with hundreds of thousands of customers, as a writer, you get about the same rate of compliments as a % of customers, but the quantity is more like daily or weekly. A nice side benefit of being a public figure. ‘You were talking about how quality writers attract their readership. I'm not sure if it has occurred to you, but their are people who think you are the "best" writer/commentator out there, hands down....
Sowell’s column that black lives only matter when they fail, not when they succeed

I just read fantastic column by Thomas Sowell: http://jewishworldreview.com/cols/sowell081616.php3 He is on my list of under-appreciated treasures: http://www.johntreed.com/blogs/john-t-reed-s-news-blog/65671619-the-living-treasures-we-do-not-value-enough Bill Clinton had a Sister Souljah moment back in the 1992 campaign. We don’t need another Sister Souljah moment. We need about a one-hour ass chewing. Trump hinted at it in his “Democrats are taking the black vote for granted” speech. Blacks like charter schools. Democrats hate them. And blacks vote Democrat. WTF? Blacks favor charters schools, or at least the parents who care about their children’s education do. And well they should. A great many of them do a fantastic...

I am making a list of people whom I should send a news release about my novel. Some I will send a review copy. I am approaching it like a non-fiction book, that is, I am telling those who might be interested in the subject matter about it.The subject matter is libertarianism, foreign aid/ambassadorial reform, radical reform of Congress, a national binding referendum, radical reform of the U.S. military and military strategy, radical monetary policy reform, presidential power, small government, radical tax reform. You can see details in the links at my web page on the book.http://johntreed.com/products/the-unelected-president-novel…Do you readers have...
Trump/Hillary strengths and weaknesses
Posted by John Reed on
I have never run a big organization but I have been in them and studied them at Harvard Business School. Regarding the presidential campaigns:You need finance person, a recruiter-of-talent person (generally the CEO is the champ at this), a marketer/sales person, and a subject-matter person. In show biz, which politics is, you also need a star with a high Q rating (likability). It has been said that politics is Hollywood for ugly people which explains how a person an unlikable as Hillary is leading in the polls. Trump is likable, albeit not to everyone, and he was an actual star in...
Strategic considerations regarding Russia and China
Posted by John Reed on
A Facebook friend asked: Does either candidate (Trump or Hillary) have the right approach towards Russia/China? Can you tell? John T. Reed That’s a big part of my Unelected President book. Both those governments fear their own citizens most. They both use America as a bogeyman to fight against to distract their populace from their economy. Unfortunately, part of that is to push us with territorial grabs. We learned not to allow them at Munich in 1938. But that needs to be joint with the countries in the region. If they won’t stand up to Russia or China, let them...
