Tucker Carlson’s interview with the Wharton MBA who trashed Harvard MBAs

Posted by John Reed on

Ah! Duff McDonald the author of the book trashing Harvard Business School (The Golden Ticket) is now on Tucker Carlson talking about it.First, he has an MBA from Wharton. I was not aware of that.Did he have any good points? No. Total bullshit. He said we were taught only by spread sheets therefore come to believe nothing else matters because it cannot be quantified. That is a lie. We were neither taught by spreadsheets nor were we taught nothing else matters. Actually, when numbers started to dominate a case discussion, a Harvard MBA student would often say, “If I were...

On being the first Coach of Tennessee and Redskins player Kevin Simon

Posted by John Reed on

My oldest son just sent me this. At .59 seconds into it, this Dallas Cowboys scout mentions me as an influence on his career..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFwSr6a2AJY&feature=youtu.be.I was Kevin’s first football coach when he was 8 on the San Ramon Bears youth team. At the season-end awards dinner, I said that we had the best defensive line in the league on our 8 to 11-year old team and that it was because the 9 to 11-year olds were following the example set by 8-year-old Kevin. I also predicted we would see Kevin play in the NFL in the future. He was drafted by...

Amherst College changes name of mascot to an extinct herbivore—poetic

Posted by John Reed on

Amherst College changed their mascot from the Lord Jeffs (short for Lord Jeffrey Amherst) to the Mammoths. When asked why they chose the name of an extinct animal, they explained that mammoths were stupendous, monumental, highly social, and herbivores. (Have the fat students—especially the fat cheerleaders—at Amherst complained about mammoths being call stupendous rather than “big boned” or “food-consumption-discipline challenged?”)Herbivores? Is that a virtue? An herbivore is a vegetarian. Termites are herbivores. So are boll weevils. This is the state of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Is cream a vegetable? Use an incisor, go to prison In the state that...

Leftists disguise themselves with lab coats

I sort of agree with some of the principles of the demonstrators around the world—called the March for Science. The headline on our local paper was “Fans of facts take to the streets.” But is was on the occasion of Earth Day, a day when liberals say they support the earth in order to imply that conservatives do not. This wall has long been explicitly devoted to drawing conclusions based on facts and logic. https://www.johntreed.com/…/60887299-intellectually-honest-…One of their clever placards said,“What do we want? Evidence-based science.“When do we want it? After peer review.”I like the first half of that. Peer review,...

The MOAB dropped on Afghanistan

Posted by John Reed on

Does size matter when it comes to bombs? Generally, no. The media loves phrases like “carpet bombing” and “mother of all bombs.” Generally, bombs are rather mundane like a workman’s tools..The appropriate size bomb depends on the nature of the target. Also, different bombs have different fuzes and casings. The fuze determines where it blows up: in the air, when it hits the ground, or delayed until after it penetrates underground. Some casings stay intact to penetrate. Others are full of like big shotgun pellets to kill people in a wide radius..The size of the bomb is determined by the...
