Helene victims should have stockpiled these items before the hurricane.

Another emergency advice I have given is to have a campers water filter. These are used by campers to convert unsafe stream water into safe-to-drink water. Boiling kills micro-organisms but it does no prevent you from imbibing unhealthy chemicals or particulate matter. Boiling also requires a heat source which may also be lost in emergencies like a hurricane or flood.
.
Camper filters protect from both micro-organisms and chemicals and particulate matter.
.
When I was in the Army, we carried iodine tablets that we were supposed to drop into a canteen full of stream or pond water then shake. It made the water taste like iodine was awful.
.
TV today reports that many people in the Helene area cannot get safe drinking water.
.
My air-travel packing list says to cave all that stuff with you if you are going to fly over isolated uninhabited areas.

Other emergency needs that we take for granted normally include:
• food and water stockpiles
• ability to start fires
• access to safe drinking water
• ability to produce electricity
• ability to communicate with the outside world
• stockpile hygiene products like
• clothing for staying warm and dry
• spare eyeglasses
• prescription medicine and vitamins and minerals
• clean dry clothing to wear
• good cash or barter items to use to buy from black market sellers
• passport, drivers license, credit and debit cards
• sunblock
• maps, compass, and/or GPS devices
• hearing aids and batteries
• lights like flashlights and lanterns
• batteries
• personal locator beacon
• hiking boots
• fishing gear
• trauma first-aid kit.
Facebook said my packing list does not meet their community standards. WTF?
