Front Sight, NV 4-day pistol self-defense course

Posted by John Reed on

In 2009, my wife was the winning bidder at a charity auction. She bought a 4-day pistol self-defense course at Front Sight, NV. She also purchased around the same time two pistols and a shotgun for home-invasion self-defense. I rolled my eyes at all this. But in the interest of family togetherness, I agreed to attend the course with her and one of her girlfriends. We attended it from Friday, 10/8/10 through Monday, 10/11/10. It was interesting and generally fun and we learned a lot and became surprisingly comfortable with loaded guns, at least in a controlled range setting. But...

The pope is ‘The Situation’ in white robes

Posted by John Reed on

I keep turning on TV to watch the news and instead I get the pope. I would say I have zero interest in the pope but zero does not adequately capture it. He is nothing but a celebrity—a rellgion celebrity no less. I have more interest in what The Situation from Jersey Shore has to say about climate or economics. The pope is from deep in the anti-capitalist Latin American my socialism right or wrong mind-set. I was born CaTHOLIC, WENT TO CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH NUNS IN HABITS 60 to A CLASSROOM AT ST. ANN’S IN WILDWODD, NJ FROM FIRST...

Here is my books tat explains how to run it on offense: Why the sweep is so effective Teams that have the fastest kid on the field can generally run the sweep all day, usually successfully. Teams that do not have one of...

John T. Reed’s sensible shopping list for the rich

Posted by John Reed on

I started out poor. Although, like most poor people, we didn’t know it. My parents spoke about poor people at times. They meant people who had even less money than we did. Now I know that their referring to others as poor was only relative. We wore hand-me-down clothes, ate fish sticks and peanut butter sandwiches, and got the occasional big treat of a glass of off-brand cola. I’m not complaining. We were happy. We did not know what we were missing—literally. Our neighbors, classmates, and playmates were in the same boat. The poor generally only feel poor when they...

Should America be the policeman of the world?

Posted by John Reed on

Copyright by John T. Reed You often hear Americans say that we are not, or should not, be the policeman of the world. Let’s think about that. A world with no policeman? First, do we want to live in a world with no policeman? I think not. There are currently a number of countries or sections of countries where outlaws dominate. They include, North Korea, the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, The tribal areas along the Afghan border in Pakistan, Somalia—Afghanistan, Libya, and Iraq. There are a number of other countries who threaten their neighbors with violence like Iran. In a...
